World Cancer Day Celebration Theme: “United by Unique”

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Pharmacy Practice Department organized an awareness program with the theme “United by Unique” on 4th February 2025. The event aimed to spread awareness about cancer, its prevention, early detection, and the role of healthcare professionals in supporting patients and families. The program was graced by the esteemed presence of Mrs. Satvinder Kaur, Scientific Officer, Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HP PCB), who was invited as the Guest of Honor. Her insights on environmental factors contributing to cancer and the significance of pollution control in cancer prevention were highly informative and thought-provoking.

Event Highlights:

  • Welcome Address: The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. M. S. Ashawat, Director cum Principal, LIPH, highlighting the importance of World Cancer Day and the need for collective efforts in combating cancer.
  • Keynote Speech by Guest Invitee: Mrs. Satvinder Kaur delivered an enlightening talk on the impact of environmental pollutants on cancer risk. She emphasized the need for stringent pollution control measures and individual responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
  • Presentation by Pharmacy Practice Faculty: Faculty members from the Pharmacy Practice Department presented detailed insights on cancer types, risk factors, treatment options, and the latest advancements in oncology.
  • Student Participation: PharmD students actively participated through poster presentations, oral discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions, showcasing their knowledge and commitment to cancer awareness.
  • Interactive Session: The audience engaged in an interactive session with Mrs. Satvinder Kaur, discussed various aspects of pollution, lifestyle modifications, and cancer prevention strategies.

Professor C.P.S. Verma, Dean of Student Welfare and Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy extended a vote of thanks to the resource persons, Dr. Vinay Pandit, HOD, Pharmaceutics, Dr. Amardeep Ankalgi, HOD, P’ceutical Analysis, Mr. Shiv Kumar Kushawaha, HOD, Pharmacology faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students of the Laureate Institute of Pharmacy for their dedicated support in organizing the event.
