International Yoga Day, 2016
As part of worldwide observation of International Yoga Day, 2016, NSS Unit of Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, Kathog Jwalaji (Himachal Pradesh) in collaboration with PatanjaliYogpeeth, Haridwar has also observed this day on June 21, 2016 in its campus with the theme "Yoga for Harmony and Peace". A Yoga session of around forty minutes was organized in which students, faculty, officers and staff took part enthusiastically and practiced various 'asanas' of Yoga and pranayama. A Yoga practitioner was invited to demonstrate various Yoga postures and explain correct way of doing asanas.
Yoga session was started with chanting of 'Pranay Mantra OM' followed by SookshmaVyayam, Vajrasana, Tadasana, Vrikshashana, Surya Namaskar, NadiShodhan Pranayama and Bhramaree Pranayama. Members present in the session expressed their experiences and stated that they were feeling relaxed, refreshed and calm after the session.
In the series of programmmes organized on the occasion of International Yoga Day: 2016, Dr. MS Ashwat Principal of Laureate Institute of Pharmacy delivered a key note speech on 'Acceptance of Yoga in our Life'. Students expressed their views in support of acceptance of Yoga and orated that Yoga is a must for keeping a sound physical and mental health. India is the originator of the Yoga and it is great that on the call of United Nations, the whole world is practicing it.
Another Key Note speech was delivered Patanjali representative Mr. BhartiJi on "importance of Yoga in the modern world". They laid emphasis on the immense power of Yoga in retaining one's physical health and mental peace.
